This summer, I have the amazing opportunity to serve as part of a program called Engage Intern through ELIC (English Language Institute/China). ELIC is a non-profit organization which sends Christians to Asia to teach conversational English to students there. I will be teaching English for two months abroad in southeast Asia. I am most looking forward to building intentional relationships with my students.
During the month of June, I will be in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I will be teaching conversational English to university students and serving with a children’s ministry doing sports and activities with local Khmer kids.
After that, my team will fly to Vietnam. The first week I will be in the capital city of Hanoi and be part of a cultural exchange program with university students. Then I will go to the countryside and have the opportunity to have my own classroom with high schoolers.
As ELIC is a non-profit organization, teachers are responsible for funding their own way. My trip to Cambodia and Vietnam will cost a total of $6,968. This fee includes all international travel, food, and housing, plus medical coverage and visas. In addition to praying for the Lord to provide both spiritual and financial partners for my trip, I am working part-time as I am in college to help fund myself.
