Hello, my name is Williams Rojas . I'm a Chicano from South Central LA who is about to graduate from high school after three and a half years of hard work and persistence. I'm proud to be the first one in my family to attend college. I was born in the US but I moved to Mexico when I was 7 years old. I came back in 2013 and started high school. Joining sports were an important part of my life and specially the MEChA club where I learned a lot of things such as organizing Community Forums and helping out the indocumented community. https://www.facebook.com/southla/videos/10155081622043769/ I know that college will be a challenge but I feel mentally prepared for it. However, I have been living on my own since August, 2016 so I am facing financial hardship. I currently work part time to pay my rent and study full time. Now that I have been admitted to UC San Diego I will really need financial support from anyone who would like to help me. My goal is to become a psychologist so I can help people overcome their obstacles and guide them to a better path. I really want to give back to my community. I am going to work at least part-time while attending UCSD but I know that I will still need financial assistance. This fundraiser will help me to cover my housing and material expenses at UCSD. I have time until August when the classes start. My education matters a lot to me and I honestly will be grateful with everyone who decides to help me to accomplish my dream. Thank you.
