In late October, our families gathered together at the Simmons' residence to hear a vision for the future. This vision was to build a strong rowing community rivaled by none that would support our community, our families and our athletes throughout high school and beyond.I am proud to say that the society of athletes and parents we have built in these few short weeks is stronger than ever. The energy and passion from our rowers and parents alike has been incredible to witness. Less than a month later, we have secured a new home and are well on our way to acquiring the equipment necessary to ensure our success. So much more to do! We need your help now. Our next goal is to secure a trailer and to continue payments toward the cost of racing shells. Please consider making a donati
I have started a foundation called I Heart Africa, so we can help people in Africa who need it.The money we raise will be helping renovate, improve and provide basic supplies for the Meteba medical centre in Ngaba. There is not enough medicine, equipment or staff. They only have 8 beds, 5 on one ward and 3 in the maternity unit. The conditions are horrendous, equipment is out-dated and it is extremely unhygienic. We will continue to work with the Masika centre (Orphanage in Minova, East Congo) plan
Mrs Sheindy Wallace from the Meah Shearim neighbourhood of Yerushalayim tragically passed away this past Monday at the young age of 33 years old aftersuffering for 2 years with a severe case of cancer.Sheindy was known to be the most dedicated and loving mother to her 9 beautiful children with the oldest being only 13 years old and the youngest are just 2 year old gorgeous twins who unfortunately never got to know their mother A"H. She devoted all her time to looking after and bringing up her precious children. Her dedicated husband has spent the last 2 years caring for his sick wife Sheindy AH, while trying to balance the role of a father and mother at home. This meant sacrificing his job and income. Although he had worked hard all his life, they lived in her parents apartment as th
Vanessa has been on the front lines fighting DAPL and working security for Oceti Sakowin since September 11. During the action on November 20 at the Backwater bridge, she was shot in the eye with a tear gas canister 6 feet away. It was aimed directly at her face by a Morton County officer. She was seen at Bismark Sanford hospital and released because she had no insurance. She has a detached retina and needs surgery to ensure her vision. She is now seeking medical attention in Fargo. Donations will be used for the cost of the 2 ER visits, surgery, medications, and recovery.
Our plan is to locate the caf in Amsterdam. Why? Mostly because of the tourism. Amsterdam is known for its variety in shops and caf's and this is why we think it would be highly suitable for us to start there. Our caf is inpsired by Japanese Maid Caf aesthetics. We are aware that Western demographics look differently at maids than Asians do, and that is why we want to use the maid and butler outfits to create a sense of luxury, together with great service and a smile from our future employees towards our customers. Of course our menu will consist of Asian, Western and vegetarian meals. Both with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The amount we ask for is based on several factors such as rent based on the first year (since most locations ask for the first year to be paid upfront), hardware, taxes, promotion, and of course multiple permits in order to be able to run our caf. We also need to pay for webhosting and to the chamber of commerce NL (KvK).It will mean
As her family shared, Grace fought harder and longer than anyone they'd known. She fought for her boys, fought for her family and her friends, but like most hard things in life....God had other plans. She's inspired us all with her dedication to family and friends, her tireless work at Rush Communications, and most of all her energy and incredible mom skills. This fund honors Grace and will support educational expenses for her three amazing sons, Damien (13), Preston (11), and Ethan (10). Her boys excelling in school and staying involved in extracurricular activities meant everything to Grace, from baseball to Cub Scouts to finishing all of their homework every day.
And this is why we want to raise money: because we cannot sit by idly as we hear the dogs crying on the streets at night and see them suffer as we walk to work (and still they greet us with a wagging tail). Puppies are thrown of motorbikes, hit so hard that their spine breaks, kicked senseless, stoned by bored kids etc. You get the horrible gist. When we brought our first dying puppy to the Blue Cross, we were somewhat relieved to have found a safe ha
Elsie Mahe had an accident and was Life Flighted to Primary Children's Hospital. I will update this with more information when it is available. My heart is broken for this amazing family. They are loving and giving. Please contribute what you can. They've given so much to our community, this is an opportunity for us to give back.
Over 8 years I've had the honor of being taken into a storyline that has forever changed my life. I was invited to walk with the families of a place then named La Chureca, a masssive unregulated trash dump that was home tothousands. It was a place of work and survival in a country hosting over a 70% unemployment rate and the unfortunate stat of being the poorest nation in Central and South America. Children played barefoot amongst the burning refuge, stepping over needles discarded from medical waste while their parents worked endless hours rummaging through trash.

Last year, my Anthony was diagnosed with Hypoxic Brain Injury due to nearly drowning after a seizure episode while bathing. Doctors are still unsure how per say to treat this. However during our 11 month journey, we have meet some wonderful parents, children and survivors who have provided us with information and proven studies of what works. Hypoxic-anoxic injury, also known as HAI, occurs when that oxygen flow is disrupted, essentially starving the brain and preventing it from performing vital biochemical processes.Hypoxic refers to a partial lack of oxygen; anoxic means a total lack. The diminished oxygen supply can cause serious impairments in cognitive skills, as well as in physical, psychological and other functions.
