I'm Tim and I want to help the people that had no other options then to jump in a small boat with to many people and then could only hope to get ashore safely. I want to help those who came to Europe with the hope of being able to lead a normal live again, but instead they were put in to camps, like aninmals, and locked away from the rest of the world with large fences, barbwire and often law officers who will hurt anyone who tries to get out off a camp. But what people often forget is that these people have given up everything, their home, their family and loved ones and risked even the lives of not only themselves but often their childeren's lives. And what did they get for that? Being treated like animals, that's what they got.But I will try to help them, because on December 7th 2016 I will travel to Greece and help the people who are already helping the refugees in the camps. The trip is already self funded, and with the money from this campaign I will buy the thin
If you've been moved by this place, delighted in the beauty of the forest, enjoyed a starlit hot tub dip, laughed until you fell over, cried in the arms of your friends, rolled on the green circle rug, or danced your butt off - or want to! - please support us. If you want your friends, family and community to continue to enjoy the bounty of this special place in the future, back us with bucks. If you want to create your own community memories here, make us some moolah . . . you get the gist!Create Operating Reserve Fund: We need an operating reserve fund - money to cover unexpected expenses. We planned to "put some money aside" once we got up and running, but there has never been any extra to put aside, leaving us in a tippy spot when things break or emergencies arise. Help us find better balance! We are still adding "Investors", too: When we bought Nine Mountain two years ago, we did so with a collective of community investors who now jointly own the busi
This year for Christmas Michelle and I will be hosting an event to distribute school supplies and some simple toys to the children of Coron. If any of you have seen my pics from earlier in the year, you can see Coron is a simply beautiful, albeit underdeveloped, part of the world. The children of Coron are very pure hearted, appreciative, and would never ask for anything. They always try to find a way to make due, this year we'd like to help them out with school supplies and maybe some simple toys. In 2017 I will formalize this into a proper charity to help lift as many children out of poverty as possible. But for now I'd like to just focus on giving them a good Christmas. I'll be heading over around December 17th and will buy as many school supplies as I can in Manilla then head to Coron for a Christmas Day
If you're a beard naysayer, it's too late...I've already been growing my beard for over a year and a half. But no worries because from here on out, I'm leaving its fate up to you! I'd like to get a fun, little competition going to raise funds for Nios de Guatemala (NDG), the non-profit organization I volunteered for the three months I was in Guatemala. Its a SHAVE IT, SAVE IT or DO SOMETHING CREATIVE competition, and here's how it works: If you want me to shave my beard and go back to being a civilized member of society, then you donate to the SHAVE IT pool. If you want me to save the beard and continue being a Neanderthal and getting mistaken for one of the guys from Duck Dynasty, then you donate to the SAVE IT pool. OR if you want me to rock some crazy facial hairstyle like a handlebar mustache, a soul patch
Dear friends,In some way or another, you have touched my life and been a part of it. It could be in a professional capacity or in my passion, music.I am currently studying for my Masters degree in rhythmic choral conducting in Aalborg, Denmark at the Royal Academy of Music. I am so blessed and privileged to be able to study here with the best in the world. Jim Daus Hjernoe, Jesper Holm and Peder Karlsson. These men have been a huge influence in my musical career and are definitely examples of inspiration. One of the subjects I have in the course of this education is jazz piano. This is something completely new to me. I learned how to play classical piano when I was younger but never learned how to play from chord schemes. This is so much fun but I have to practice. A lot.About 3 months before my husband Johannes died, he bought me an acoustic upright piano with his first money from his first Tour de France. We were shopping in B
Hello everyone, Charlie needs our help. As most of you know, Charlie has lost his brother and his home on the evening of Friday, November 18th due to a fire. This happened while Charlie attended the HHS Brahmas Playoff Game in San Antonio. Charlie is a 29.5 year associate with Walmart, and one of the greatest people we will ever have the honor of knowing. Charlie has been Hallettsville Citizen of the Year and published in the Victoria Advocate in 2014. Charlie is a huge assets to our community and has always gone above and beyond for the citizens of Hallettsville. At this time we are trying to raise money to get Charlie back on his feet and a roof over his head. He is currently staying with family. Charlie is not only our friend but he is our family. Most everyone knows Charlie from Walmart but he is also a huge sports fan, of pretty much all sports. I am sure at some point in meeting Charlie you have gotten a hand shake, hug or a big warm smile. If you have any questions please con
I'm associated with a group of like hearted folks that for logical, safety and security reasons prefers to remain Nameless and Faceless. Let me assure you that this in no way invalidates how REAL I am or how real we are as a Team. We go out every single night to feed and/or help people in need, and try to be instrumental in meeting the spiritual and tangible needs of the less fortunate. Please allow me to share with you some of the milestones that we have been part of, for just over 9 years, daily, in the Greater Sacramento Region of California (non exclusive to Woodland, West Sacramento, South Natomas and down I-5 and Hwy 99 to and including Elk Grove).1. As the fires rage in the Southern Appalachians, leaving many NC and TN residents homeless and dependent on charity for the most basic needs, we are putting out the call to our brothers and sisters across the land (and globe) to give till it hurts. These good mountain folk have been widely ignored and spurned by coastal elites as their homes and lives are destroyed. They need our help.Once the fundraising drive has completed, funds will be used to purchase (via an online retailer) necessities like nonperishable food, diapers, and clothing, as well as comfort items for children. The order(s) will be shipped to one or a few locations in the area receiving relief deliveries. (Update: this is contingent on whether local spots are still accepting in-kind d'nations. The fundraiser will wrap up on Sunday (12/4/16) night at 11:59:59 EST, so give early and often!
She received the worst phone call for a mother, the morning of April 7, 2016. Her ex-husband called crying, with fear in his voice " THE BOYS HAVE BEEN IN A REALLY BAD CAR ACCIDENT AND ALEX WAS EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE"! They were coming home from Port Canaveral, where they had been on a cruise for spring break, made it to Daytona Beach where the accident occurred. Both of her children were taken to Halifax Hospital. Andrew (16) had no life sustaining injuries, where as Alex (11) had to be life-flighted to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando, due to a brain injury. Meanwhile, Amy and Kurt left Douglasville, GA, for what would be the longest ride of their lives! As with any brain injury, the first 48-72 hours are the most crucial. Alex has surpassed that with no surgery, thank God! He still has a very long road to recovery, and many prayers are needed.Amy and Kurt are both self-employed. As no mother should ever have to leave her sons side during this tragedy,
She and Mick collectively gave nothing less than their very best, changing the world one child at a time as they committed to serving a generation of future leaders. However, her most important priority was to be a loving wife to Mick Sandoval as they raised their three beautiful children: their daughter Riley (13), son Reece (10), and daughter Zoe (6). As she juggled the responsibilities of parenthood, she proudly served as principal of David E. Smith Elementary School, and led countless students and teachers to believe in themselves. Her genuine passion for living life to the fullest continues to inspire everyone who had the privilege to know her.Exactly three years ago, Jessica encountered devastating news when she was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor in her pancreas. Jessica was never one to spotlight the medical side of things, but instead she highlighted the Healer, and especially spoke lovingly about all of the people who showed tender care an
Hello Everyone! My name is Jim Pearl and I have had the privilege to coach Ava Strenge in cross country throughout her high school career. This campaign is to allow Ava Strenge's parents an opportunity to see their daughter run at the Footlocker National Championships in San Diego on December 10th. Ava qualified this past weekend at the Footlocker Midwest Regional in Wisconsin coming in 9th and earning her spot on the Midwest Team. She set a personal best time of 17:47.4. All funds rasied will be used to defray travel expenses for Ava's parents. Ava just completed the most successful four year XC career in St. Philip history. Our XC program prides itself on being like a family and we support one another. We want to give Ava's parents this once in a lifetime opportunity to cheer on their daughter in San Diego. Every little bit counts and we thank everyone who supports our efforts. Thank you and God Bless.
In late October, our families gathered together at the Simmons' residence to hear a vision for the future. This vision was to build a strong rowing community rivaled by none that would support our community, our families and our athletes throughout high school and beyond.I am proud to say that the society of athletes and parents we have built in these few short weeks is stronger than ever. The energy and passion from our rowers and parents alike has been incredible to witness. Less than a month later, we have secured a new home and are well on our way to acquiring the equipment necessary to ensure our success. So much more to do! We need your help now. Our next goal is to secure a trailer and to continue payments toward the cost of racing shells. Please consider making a donati
